E-Board: Meet the Team

President

AAPS, for me, represents my association to the national and professional organization of Pharmaceutical Sciences. It is a reminder that I am connected to a wider community with common interests and an additional space to build relationships and create opportunities. Being able to have a student chapter provides the opportunity to connect with the student body here at UMB as we seek to add to our development outside of our classrooms and our laboratories. It is my goal while I lead the E-board of our student chapter to listen to how our needs are changing, and to organize activities that will supplement our professional development in these areas. I would also like to maintain and forge new partnerships with other chapters within the AAPS community and other leaders in our field.

Vice President of Social Media and Marketing

As it is my second year with this position I hope to continue creating  connections and highlighting the amazing work the students in the pharmaceutical sciences do on our campus.

I am especially excited that events are returning to more "normal" and that we can begin our outreach work in the spring.

Follow us on Twitter, Like us on Facebook and even interact with us via LinkedIn.  Twitter is my primary form of communication events and highlighting the students and staff in our department!

Treasurer

As a First-year master student in PSC, AAPS will provide me with a great opportunity to connect with students, professors, and scientists in the pharmaceutical field. Being a part of AAPS will allow me to further develop leadership and networking skills.  AAPS provides excellent opportunities for all the members to attend guest speaker events, webinars and industry site visits which creates a wide range of opportunities for them to connect with scientist and professionals in the field. Working together with like-minded colleagues for the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences is a truly amazing experience and I am grateful for the opportunity. I am excited for all of the upcoming events and to attend the 2023 AAPS Annual meeting.

2022-2023

Faculty Advisor

I am pleased to become the Faculty Advisor for University of Maryland Student Chapter of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). I aim to bring my enthusiasm for pharmaceutical sciences to the Chapter and provide support and opportunities to its members. AAPS is the premier organization in pharmaceutical sciences and its membership comprises the best and the brightest in the field by bringing together scientists working in academia, government, and industry. Although our objective is simple - to design, develop, and test new therapies to improve public health, the great breadth of innovative science being done in healthcare today requires a transdisciplinary educational background to successfully compete in the global marketplace. I firmly believe that the AAPS Student Chapter possesses the qualities and diverse educational background needed to become leaders in pharmaceutical sciences. My goal for the Chapter is to promote diversity and inclusion, increase community outreach, and to enhance career development opportunities. I hope to see the student leaders grow the Chapter and continue to arrange events that will attract broad interest. Importantly, I urge students to take full advantage of these opportunities presented and to attend the planned events in the coming year as they are excellent educational and networking opportunities. I look forward to working closely with the AAPS Student Chapter in the coming year.

Vice President of Membership

Serving on the AAPS E-board for the past two years has been an enriching experience. Through AAPS, I was provided numerous opportunities to network with faculty, students, and professionals within the pharmaceutical sciences community. Participating in AAPS has also grown my leadership and interpersonal skills. Currently, through my new position as the VP of membership, I am excited to interact with and recruit students and faculty members on and off campus. I am most excited about reviving student engagement within the department and the opportunity to facilitate connections between PSC students and other student organizations and local companies. Additionally, I look forward to helping curate career development and networking events that meet the needs of our students.
