One Day Symposium: "Career Paths to FDA"

Get Answers!

This symposium provided a chance to network with a panel of FDA employees and AAPS students, and promote your research. The format was a question-and-answer session, followed by a lunch reception and poster presentations. All questions answered about the paths that led our panelists to a career at the FDA! This was a great opportunity to experience an interdisciplinary environment with experts, faculty members and students from different backgrounds!

Janssen Pharmaceuticals Site Visit

Explore and Learn

Our chapter visited Janssen Pharmaceutical's Spring House site in Pennsylvania. They are the pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson, working tirelessly to make that future a reality for patients everywhere by fighting sickness with science, improving access with ingenuity, and healing hopelessness with heart. They focus on areas of medicine where we can make the biggest difference: Cardiovascular & Metabolism, Immunology, Infectious Diseases & Vaccines, Neuroscience, Oncology, and Pulmonary Hypertension.

Mar 27, 2019 - Paragon Bioservices Facility Tour

Supporting Local

Seventeen graduate students and postdocs from various schools within our campus attended this site visit and were accompanied by a senior scientist at Paragon for the facility tour. The participants received an in-depth look of the facility and learned more about GMP manufacturing processes involved in gene therapy and rare diseases. Following the facilities tour, information about internships and job opportunities at Paragon by their human resources department were discussed. This was our first visit to Paragon and we hope to be able to revisit the facilities again in the future, especially as the company is in such close proximity to our university and is continually growing in the biopharmaceutical field.

Mar 4, 2020 - Roland Park Middle School Science Fair

Volunteer with us!

AAPS members were joined by PSC students to help judge middle school students’ science fair projects. A diverse array of science projects was presented, showcasing passion, dedication and curiosity by local students.

During this competitive event over 400 students presented their projects for judging by community professionals. As a judge, volunteers used their expertise in determining how well the middle school students understand and use scientific thought and process in preparing their science fair projects.

Mar 6, 2020 - Webinar

Learn with Us

AAPS offers a wide variety of learning opportunities and tools. We hosted a webinar viewing event of controlled drug release society on "Nature Inspired Biomaterials Enable Adoptive Macrophage Therapy  of Sepsis" by Yizhou Dong. His study provided a promising strategy for overcoming MDR bacteria-induced sepsis and opens up possibilities for the development of nanoparticle-enabled cell therapy for infectious diseases.

Coffee and pizza made the experience more fun for students!

RELAX AND ENJOY!

AAPS organized annual Valentine’s Day Baking Contest to celebrate a day of love with great baked goods and company. Baking goods were shared, and games were enjoyed by the community. More fun was guaranteed this year with exciting mini-games to win a special prize of GIANTmicrobes.

Congratulations to Valentine's Day Baking Content Winners Anh Tran (Winner) and Melissa Metry (Runner-up)!
